Being thankful is something that we all take for granted or is easily overlooked. But as I discovered when you are in a hard pressed place and feel at death’s door you suddenly notice all those little things you have and don’t want to lose.
It’s so easy to lose heart in these times today, the news is grim and appearing to get worse. People are hurting and in pain. But we also know these are the birth pangs of a world longing and groaning for the return of our Lord. We have to go through these times though we don’t understand them and know that He is at work for something ultimately better. ‘in all things God works for good’ (Romans 8:28). As Charles Price writes: “It is not the ‘things’ that are good (they may in fact be evil), but in them God works out purposes that are good. For that, we can trust him.”
“Lord, thank You that You are active even in the middle of my worst days.”
