The greatest gift

I just had to share a wonderful testimony I heard tonight. A man wrote into a christian tv station with this news. He had been suffering with depression for many years and had many attempts to commit suicide. On this one particular night he was sure to do it he felt the urge to ask God to forgive him. As he was praying for forgiveness it turned into repentance and he was saved and filled with the holy spirit that night. After hours alone with God he emerged from the room and went to tell his wife.

How amazing and wonderful is our sovereign God. The greatest gift is the gift of salvation. God who reaches into the darkest places, no-one is beyond his grasp. His mercies are new every day.

There is hope no matter how deep the darkness, no matter how strong the torment. This testimony excites me, there was no fancy sermon it was just a man on his knees before God. It shows the awesome power of prayer from a repentant heart and a merciful God who plucks him from death to life in a few moments!

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–Eph 2:8

Made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved. Eph 2:5

Wow…profound! I just recently had that experience as well. And those passages are extremly meaningful to me. I have finally forgiven myself for my past transgressions and my compass is pointed forward with hope and inspiration.

Thank you for your timely post!
