I just read a beautiful letter from J Piper to a teenager who was asking for advice on growing up. (here)
It stuck me in a funny kind of way that I had been doing a similar thing these last few days. I’m back to trying to figure things out, looking at how things are and feeling discouraged. I was sinking into my own world of problems and then I read this letter and my vision cleared.
When we reduce our view down to ourselves we block out the amazing view that God has for us. So as J Piper put it so eloquently “we need to look further than the pimple on our nose”. We may not understand or have the answers but we can lean on a God who does. To know that the twists and turns of life are not meaningless but have a greater purpose, beyond which there is so much more.
