Hope for Madeline and the McCanns

Madeline McCann is a young girl that was snatched from a family holiday apartment in Portugal  in 2007. It received a lot of media attention and a lot of criticism for the parents leaving their children alone in the apartment each night. Something now that I’m sure they regret and seems to haunt Kate. My focus is on an article I read in (Christian today)on Kate McCann’s doubt in God and not understanding why God had not answered their endless collective prayers. I know I have prayed on and off for Madeline and still hope against all odds that she is found like so many others. So why do these things seemingly go unanswered?

I believe God does not abandon us even though we don’t have answers or the answers we want, but that he is there to strengthen us, comfort us, lead us each step of the way. We have to learn to put our total trust in him. This is not something that we find easy to do and the test comes under trials.

Prov 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight

We live in a very troubled world there are many horrible things that happen. As believers we need to stay strong by meditating on His word. My prayer for both Kate and Gerry would be a closer deeper relationship with God. That they will be able to put their trust in Him alone and not in man and most of all that hope will not disappoint them.

Rom 5: 5  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

It must be heart-wrenching for all the parents and siblings who have lost touch with loved ones the world over. Proverbs 3:5 truly is the only way we can respond when lives are shattered, trusting God and submitting the matter to him.

I believe that many times, eternity with the Lord is our hope, the place where all is finally put right. However, the here and now isn’t guaranteed to be trouble free.

My heart and prayers too are with this and the many other families, the mere thought of this presents such a pain I can’t come close to imagining how broken their heart’s are. This is an evil world filled with evil people and we are all subject to that fact. I can’t imagine facing this world without His mighty love and His grace so overflowing and I pray for that spiritual closeness they must find with God. They may not know it YET but He holds that child and them in His powerful hands and will fill their need. We just have to let Him!
