The race of perseverance

In the news today I read about another Christian at risk of losing his job of 15 years because he has a palm cross in his van. His boss is afraid of people being offended by it. How does a symbol of love and a great sacrifice for humankind cause offence to a so called Christian nation?! It appears to me that we are bowing to other faiths at the expense of our own.

The world was hostile to Jesus and still is so it should not surprise me.  As I thought on this I read Andreas blog about the situation in Jos, Nigeria which never reaches our news here. The pain and suffering they face everyday for their faith is hard to comprehend. (http://christianconcern.com/blog/shake-off-the-slumber)

The one thing I do know is in the face of persecution the Church of Christ is pure, (Rev 3)  and the crown that each of these victims will receive in Heaven I imagine will be one of unimaginable beauty.

We need to keep our eyes fixed on the finish line, not to get distracted or discouraged. We must not let our faith grow dim. We must take a stand no matter how small and not hold back in fear of what might happen. We must not forget our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted for their faith. Lets get busy about our Fathers business, as He will be returning soon.

Heb 12: 1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
